Here are the options Medicare has given 69-year-old Bob McGinnis for treating his severe rheumatoid arthritis: Take a bimonthly, hospital-administered medication that doesn’t help but costs him nothing out-of-pocket, or take a biweekly self-injected medication that relieves his pain but costs him several thousand dollars a year.
